Kerfield Crescent, back
A small garden with a big impact
This beautifully compact back garden presented a unique design challenge, with limited space, deep shade, and a dramatic drop from the interior. Our mission was to turn it into a secluded sanctuary that surprises and delights at every glance.
We sculpted a set of elegant, curved steps that sweep you up into the garden, softening the change in level with a graceful, organic flow. This gentle ascent sets the tone for the entire space, calm, inviting, and full of quiet drama.
To visually expand the garden, we introduced a large mirror that reflects both light and greenery, cleverly doubling the sense of space and drawing the garden into the home. From indoors, it offers a moment of magic, as if the garden continues far beyond its boundaries.
Underfoot, a rich tapestry of reclaimed setts and warm-toned porcelain tiles creates a tactile, timeless surface. Surrounding this, a frame of lush, shade-loving planting including fragrant Trachelospermum jasminoides and opulent hydrangeas brings seasonal texture, scent, and a touch of romance.
This is a space designed to be discovered slowly, full of charm, clever detail, and a sense of quiet luxury.
