Ildersly Grove

A versatile back garden to accompany an outdoor room

This back garden was designed to complement the existing outbuilding, and provide additional distinct spaces for various uses. These contrast with each other through differences in level and use of materials.

The porcelain terrace dominates through being at the highest level and creates a natural vantage point for the rest of the garden. On one side, a chic outdoor kitchen is conveniently sited close to the house, while the other side allows ample space for an outdoor lounge set. Steps lead down past the colourful raised bed to the central lawn.

Next to the garden room, we used the small space to create a secluded deck furnished with two wooden benches and a fire pit. With hanging lights and a graceful Himalayan birch alongside, it’s an ideal spot for evening relaxation.
