A small back garden using angles for effect

The planks of the beautiful lower deck are set diagonally to the back of the house which creates a feeling of movement. Steps at the same angle lead up to the lawn, with part of the upper step forming one side of a small square patio with floating benches and specially chosen mosaic tiles. The result is ample space for a barbecue and seating, with the angles of the deck and patio juxtaposed to pleasant effect.

At the back, we created a secluded dining area under a light pergola adorned with long-flowering clematis. Mosaic tiles were again used for the floor, echoing those used for the patio.

In the borders, we planted lush and free-growing grasses and shrubs to provide structure, with a minimal colour scheme of green, lime and white.

The dining patio of buff porcelain stone adjoining the back of the house gives way to a striking circular area flanked by raised beds with mounted pergolas and cantilevered curved benches, making it ideal for lounging. Up the steps, the generous lawn allows plenty of space for children to play. The planting is floriferous, with beautiful shades of silver, white and lime. At the rear, a small patio leads through to the summer house.
