Calton Avenue 6
A garden design that makes a feature from a constraint
Rather than treating the mature pear tree in the middle of this garden as a constraint, we used it to form part of a striking architectural statement by designing and building a circular deck and feature gabion wall to surround it.
The undulating wall creates privacy from neighbours and a base for the cantilevered benches. To add contrast with the gabion stones, the baskets are interposed with vertical wooden posts.
To complete this delightful space, we planted a subtle combination of pastel grasses and flowering perennials for a coastal ambiance.
